End panel inserted but not yet shaped.

The rectangular piece will be inside the soundbox, with the inner surface of the guitar sides glued to the face you see here.

The oval will become the removable panel that allows the luthier to work inside the soundbox even when the guitar is completed.

In an upcoming version of this website, I'll post an article on why the end panel is such a great little innovation. Texas luthier Chris Jenkins and I wrote an article on the end panel in American Lutherie #76.
